You will go to work for a Union Contractor and receive a good wage, which will increase as you accomplish you training program. Over time you will become eligible for medical benefits and a pension plan. Each year throughout your Apprenticeship Training you will receive a minimum of 144 hours of combined classroom and shop instruction. Over the course of your Apprenticeship you will also receive on-the-job training designed to educate you in all the theories and practices of the Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ crafts. Plus, while on the job, you’ll earn a negotiated percentage of the journey workers’ area hourly wage rate, increasing progressively to 100% by graduation. Training for the FutureAs the OPCMIA prepares for the future, its leadership is squarely focused on increasing membership through organizing plasterers, cement masons and shop hands. Officers, members, and staff of the OPCMIA are upgrading existing training programs and establishing new ones throughout the United States and Canada.
